I love parks!
Today I'm going to talk about parks. They're a good way to get outside, get around and enjoy the nature around us. Parks have been very, very important to my recovery from my accident in many ways.
Going to parks was a way I could get outside and love life lots when I came home from the hospital. At first when we went for walks, it would be with Mom and Larry on either side of me.
That's when we lived in Sleepy Eye. We would go to Flandrau State Park and Fort Ridgely State Park. The trails there were up, down and all around awesomeness.
We'd see birds, deer, fox, chipmunks and skunks. There were a lot of eagles.
It was really hard learning to walk on the hard terrain, but we did it, and it helped me a lot. I had to learn to pick up my right foot. I was very unbalanced, and walking the rugged trails made me learn to keep my balance.
This week we went to Oxbow Park at Byron for a walk on Saturday. We went to Zollman Zoo.
The black bear was out of hibernation, so we got to watch it for a while. The bear was neat, but the neatest thing was snakes. I got to hold two of the snakes, which was cool!
