Publisher's Column We proudly announce the addition of a new member to our publishing clan

We are hoping that most of you already know that this past week we sent out the premiere edition of a new publication, the Town & Country Trading Post. We hope that you found it interesting and helpful. This edition was done in advance of regular publication to give us a chance to see what kind of issues we might run into and work out any "bugs."

Every home and business served by a post office delivering mail in Dodge County, Brownsdale and in the Byron area should have gotten copies of this new publication. If you did not or if you know someone who did not receive it, we ask that you let us know. Information on how to contact us is in the gray box in the lower right corner of this page.

We are very proud of the communities we serve and intend to use this new publication to help get the word out about what a great place the communities we serve are to work in, to live in, to do business in, and to raise a family in. Once in a while it is a good idea to just sit down and assess all the features of our communities that make the quality of life that we enjoy possible.

We intend to do that with the Town & Country Trading Post. Within our market area, we have:

• first class restaurants, bringing visitors from all over the planet to our neighborhood;

• state-of-the-art manufacturing industry;

• prototype engineering industry;

• alternative fuels industry;

• solar energy industry;

• wind energy industry;

• agriculture;

• agri-business;

• advanced healthcare facilities;

• natural parks with lots of wildlife;

• recreational/community parks with facilities for social and recreational activities;

• several excellent golf courses;

• elementary and secondary schools offering students a variety of excellent curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular program experiences;

• housing developments offering relatively affordable home ownership opportunities;

• and the list goes on and on.

One of the purposes of producing this new publication is to provide a format to get the word out about what a great place our market is for people and businesses.

We want to assist local businesses in getting the word out about the products and services available in our market area.

We want to assist people outside our market area to learn about the opportunities for them here and to provide a place they can go to learn how to take advantage of those opportunities.

Through our newspapers, our involvement with the Dodge County Expo and our membership and service in local chambers-of-commerce, we have worked to build cooperation among communities in our market area to promote economic welfare and quality of life. We firmly believe that all of our communities must work together to preserve that economic welfare and quality of life. This publication is presented in that same spirit.

We want everyone in our area to join us in making this publication an effective vehicle for sharing information about life in our market area among ourselves and with those outside our area. We will give you opportunities to share your special interests and to tell about your experience living here. We hope you will take advantage of these opportunities.

We plan to publish the Town & Country Trading Post every week beginning in March. As we move forward, we invite you to share with us your suggestions and criticisms. We will welcome either.
