At the beginning of the track and field season, we had so much snow and ice and now that we're finally getting in some track and field meets, it sure would be nice if the weather would at least cooperate a little with us.
I guess after canceling our home varsity track meet on Tuesday, May 1, due to a thunderstorm, we need to be happy with just rain at a meet. So rain it was! Hayfield hosted a junior high meet on May 3, against JWP, Kasson-Mantorville, Medford, Rochester Lourdes and Triton.
Aine Stasko took sixth in the 1600m with a time of 6:39.35 and McKenna O'Connor in second with 6:11.78. Both these young ladies continue to improve every meet. Grace Walker placed third in the 400m dash in 1:11.25.
Brooke Bauer shot putted her way into fourth with a distance of 26-04. In the long jump and triple jump, Haley Hayden was the champion with jumps of 12-11 and 29-03.5.
Steele Tebay was the overall champion in four events this night- 200m (26.06), long jump (17-07.5), triple jump (35-07.5), and the shot put (34-10). Also in the throws was Karson Steele placing fifth in the shot put (26-01) and third in the discus (65-06).
Thanks for everyone that braved all the rain for this meet. We love our Vikings fans!
