12/5/2018 1:37:00 PM Nolting Dental joins Northwest Dental Group
By Gretta Becay
At the beginning of November, Dr. Katie Post, owner of Northwest Dental Group, purchased the dental practice of Dr. Frederick Nolting in Byron.
"We chose Northwest because they care about their patients and their staff," Nolting said. "I asked myself, 'will we be as caring as we were before the merger?' and the answer is yes. It was simple and easy to go and join Northwest Dental Group because I know my patients will be taken care of. Everything's been great."
Nolting and Post answered questions about the merger at the Byron office in late November.
Will the Byron dental office have a new name?
It will still be called Nolting Dental Care.
Will Dr. Nolting stay?
Yes. Nolting has made a long-term commitment to Nolting Dental Care and Northwest Dental Group and he has no current plans to retire. Dr. Catherine Zhou, a graduate of Temple University - Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, is currently seeing patients part time at Nolting Dental Care and Northwest Dental Group at 2056 Superior Dr. NW in Rochester. She is currently accepting new patients. She has a passion for working with children.
Nolting was happy to point out that he can now take some time off. After 40 years, he is looking forward to it.
Will the hours at the Byron office change?
The office hours during the week will be from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. In January, hours will expand to include appointments from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first Saturday of each month. Patients at Nolting Dental Care will now have access to the same emergency hours as those of the entire Northwest Dental Group. Those hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Will the current Byron employees keep their jobs?
Yes, and they also will receive more benefits including health insurance, 401K's and tuition reimbursement.
"We are currently looking to expand the size of our team," noted Dr. Post.
What types of dental insurance does the practice accept?
Nolting Dental Care is a Premier Provider for Delta Dental Insurance and its dentists are in-network with Delta Dental Insurance. The practice also accepts all other types of dental insurance.
What special services do the combined offices offer?
Northwest Dental Group and now Nolting Dental Care pride themselves on being on the cutting edge of modern digital dentistry, explained the two.
In a later email exchange, Post explained the specifics.
"New to Nolting Dental Care since November, is a digital iTero Element Scanner (digital impressions and Invisalign) and a new digital Sirona Panorex (dramatically reduced radiation).
"The patients at Nolting Dental Care also have access to a digital Cone Beam (3D imaging for root canal treatment, implant placement, diagnosis of lesions and symptomatic teeth) and Planmeca High-precision Ceramic Mill for same day crowns.
In November, Dr. Nolting became certified to provide Invisalign. Invisalign is a quick and easy way, via clear retainers, to straighten your teeth!"
Post explained further that, "Northwest Dental Group has a long history of providing high quality dentistry to Rochester and the surrounding areas.
Four friends, Dr. Rossi, Dr. Sahs, and the Trost Brothers in 1965 built the original location off of 14th St. NW Rochester.
"At the time, it was considered the edge of town. Dr. Post joined Dr. Sahs and Dr. Sperling in 2003. Dr. Sperling, Dr. Post, and the other dentist at Northwest Dental Group expanded to 2056 Superior Dr. NW in 2012.
"Dr. Sperling is the current Past President for the State of Minnesota Board of Dentistry and has held several other offices as well. Dr. Post is currently on the board for the Salvation Army Dental Clinic.
"Northwest Dental Group has been known from the beginning for its commitment to excellence in dentistry and generosity in the community. Every September, Northwest Dental Group, joined by Nolting Dental Care in 2018, offers a free dental day to anyone in need.
"They provide exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions. This one day has made a huge impact on our community."
