On Friday, February 2, Triton FFA members traveled to Riverland Community College in Austin for Region VIII Winter Leadership Day.
This event features Leadership Development events, Career Development events and many types of interviews.
Isaac Kenworthy, Isaac Reyant, Emily DeVetter, Anna Ridenour, Madi Styndl and Megan Justice participated in an exam called Best Informed Greenhand that tested their knowledge of FFA. Those members qualified to the Minnesota FFA Convention in April.
Anna Ridenour competed in Creed Speaking. For this LDE, members present the FFA Creed and answered questions relating to the creed.
Connor Kleinwort participated in the Employment Skills. Connor prepared a cover letter, resume, application and was interviewed.
For the Extemporaneous Speaking LDE, Martha Moenning presented a four-minute speech on the topic she selected during her 30-minute preparation time. Martha placed first and qualified to the Minnesota FFA Convention.
Emily DeVetter and Megan Justice served as delegates and voted on the Region VIII officer applicants. Martha Moenning went through interviews and was slated as the 2018-2019 Region VIII vice president. The new officer team will be installed in April.
The remaining members applied for the Minnesota FFA degree. This degree is achieved through the efforts of an individual's Supervised Agriculture Experience. Less than 2% of FFA members earn this degree. Triton had nine members approved to receive the degree.
