Kenneth Bush, a Rochester realtor and former sales employee with Community News Corp., is running for the District 25B seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
The seat is currently held by Democrat Duane Sauke, who was elected in 2016.
Bush, 43, is a registered Republican, who grew up in Rochester and attended John Marshall High School.
A licensed realtor for the better part of two decades and a member of the Olmsted County Planning Commission for the past two and a half years, Bush said his biggest strength is being a people person.
"I wasn't always the richest kid, but I was always an effective communicator," Bush said. "I think it's important to be a bridge and build consensus among Republicans and Democrats because we're all people."
Bush plans to officially file when the filing period opens next May. If more than one Republican files, a Primary will be held in August with the main election in November. An endorsement by the Republican Party is expected next spring.
