I'm going to talk this week about walks in the park. They are fun, they are good exercise and we get outside to enjoy nature.
We went walking at Oxbow Park in Byron Saturday. We walked across a neat bridge. There was a whole boatload of steps to climb, but I did it. The water was dirty and flowing extremely fast.
Mom and I walked together. Larry was on his own, of course. He was taking pictures for the paper. We saw one wild turkey and we saw two geese taking off from the river after being spooked by a kayaker, and other people walking.
I like it a lot walking in the park. After my accident, I wanted to learn to walk by myself. Larry and Mom and I would go walking at Fort Ridgley State and at Flandrau State Park.
There were lots of neat birds, animals and flowers. The trails were awesome. They were high and up and down. It was not at all easy. Sometimes it was really, really hard, but I'd get it eventually.
Walking those rough trails helped me learn to pick up my right foot when I walked. It gave me confidence in myself. I learned from that, that there are still a lot of things I can do if I put my mind to it and do it well.
We walked sometimes inside, but that didn't work well at all. I like being outside where I can get my groove on!
