Auditions for Agatha Christies' "The Mousetrap"!
By Melisa Ferris
The Mantorville Theatre Company will hold auditions for its October Dinner Theatre production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap on Sunday August 11 and Sunday August 18, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Mantorville Opera House. The play features eight characters-five men and three women, ages 20-65. Actors who are older and younger than the target ages are also encouraged to audition.
The Mousetrap is the story of a group of strangers stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm-one of whom is a murderer. The suspects include the newly married couple who run the house, a spinster with a curious background, an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef, a retired Army major, a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a snow drift, and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. Into their midst comes a policeman, traveling on skis. Soon after he arrives, a murder is committed-and no one is spared from the investigation!
The Mousetrap opened in the West End of London in 1952, and has been running continuously since then. It has the longest initial run of any play in history, with its 25,000th performance taking place on 18 November 2012. It is the longest running show (of any type) of the modern era.
No singing or prepared material is necessary, as actors will read from scripts provided at the audition. Directed by Jeremy Kittleson, with assistance from Khera Houston, the show will run from October 4 through October 27, 2013. For more information, visit our web page at
