I found your editorial interesting about gun control in the Jan. 2 paper.
I am also not in agreement about having armed guards at schools. Your example with Ronald Reagan was good.
I am also not in agreement about having gun control. Prohibition proved if people want something, they will get it.
I found the paragraph interesting about Australia, where gun control is enforced. Then murder from knives is on the increase.
You didn't elaborate much but you mentioned something about society and humans killing each other.
I think all the solutions mentioned are just merely band aids. I believe the main issue is world views. There are basically two world views, the humanistic world view is that man can be basically good. The Christian world view is that man is basically evil. Our founding fathers believed in the Christian world view, and that is why they designed the Constitution the way they did.
The second amendment is designed so an individual could protect him or herself from evil people.
If you take away our ability to protect ourselves, evil will find a way to take advantage of the situation. This is human nature.
You mentioned LaPierre of the NRA believes in something because he wants it to be true. Well, I think that people want to believe that by outlawing guns then evil people will just sit there and not do evil things. This is simply not true.
