School board approves administrator contracts

The Byron school board approved the contracts of three new administrators for the 2014-2015 school year.
Superintendent Jeff Elstad introduced two of them at the board's April 22 meeting held in the Byron High School board room, Richard Swanson and Steve Willman.
Swanson, principal at the area's alternative learning center in the Zumbro Education District, takes over for interim principal Dick Jones at the middle school.
Willman, an assistant principal at John Marshall High School, takes over at Byron High School for the retiring Mike Duffy.
A third administrator will be introduced at the board's May meeting.
Amanda Lyons will a new position at Byron Elementary School, as assistant principal.
Lyons, a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) teacher for Winona Public Schools, will be based at the community education center and will be overseeing kindergarten, which moves to all-day, everyday this fall, early childhood special education, as well as helping out at the elementary school.
