to clear first year hurdle
Pancake breakfast at WC Legion on Saturday
The West Concord Public Charter School will host their first pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, September 28, from 7 to 11 a.m. at the American Legion. The WCPCS committee hopes to make the breakfasts a regular, perhaps monthly, event
The breakfast is being held to help the school raise additional funds needed due to low student enrollment at the school. The school opened this fall with 39 students and was originally set to open with 64 students.
In a letter requesting donations Nicole Musolf writes, "Due to various circumstance, 25 students decided to stay at their current school. While this is unfortunate, we are determined to make this school a success for the 39 children we serve. We intend to continue to grow and thrive in enrollment."
She included positive comments from students currently attending and their parents.
To raise financial support for the first year, the school has posted donation lists at local businesses. The school is also asking for cash donations to help the school stay viable.
Musolf also pointed out in her letter, that based on the interest from kindergarten parents for the 2014-2015 school year, the school believes after they get past this first year hurdle, they expect to financially and academically thrive.
