Summer Recreation reports
increase in participation
By Tara Lindquist
During the Hayfield School Board meeting on Monday, August 12, the board heard an end of the season report on the Summer Recreation programs.
Summer Rec. co-coordinators Kasey Kreckling and Chris Pack told the board that overall they had a successful year with an increase in participants in all programs except for Machine League. "The numbers in Machine League were down because we added two teams of ten and under baseball, which covers the same grades Machine League does," Kreckling explained.
Summer Rec. also added one team of 14 and under softball. In addition, Kreckling reported that the program has made more money this year because their enrollment is up. "We did have some more expenses this year because we had to buy some more equipment to accommodate the increase in kids," Pack said. They did report the program brought in $20,233.00 and spent $17,194.65 on staff and equipment. "We still have some more expenses that need to be paid and final payroll to pay, but we should end up even," Kreckling said. Ron Evjen pointed out that the district does not look to make any money off of Summer Rec.
Under the personnel portion of the agenda, the board voted to:
