Hayfield School Board dealt with an unexpected change in board members during their meeting on Monday, April 8.
School Board Chairman, Len Oelkers submitted a letter of resignation to the board prior to the meeting. He was not present during the meeting and during a phone interview would only state he resigned for personal reasons and had no further comment. Oelkers served on the board for ten years.
The board unanimously approved Kathy Hegna Zelinske as the new board chair and elected Brenda Becher as the new board clerk.
Also under the personnel agenda the board approved: lane changes on the salary schedule for Dorien Grav and Jeremy Struck, rescinded the contract for Marv Tjaden as junior high golf coach due to low numbers and approved the resignation of elementary school office manager Sue Anderson.
Other items approved on the agenda were: payment of the bills, participation in the Minnesota High School League, charging senior citizens from other districts $4.00 to attend sporting actives and permission for students to attend the state FFA convention.
The board will meet again on May 13 at 7 pm in the Brownsdale Elementary gym.
