Belinda Selfors will be the new superintendent for the Hayfield school district.
Kathy Zelinske, Chair of the Hayfield School Board, reports that the Hayfield School Board has selected Belinda Selfors to replace retiring Hayfield School Superintendent Ron Evjen, who has been with the district for 22years. Zelinske said the decision to offer the position to Selfors was made on April 16. She said the board then met in negotiations two nights to finalize the contract before meeting as a board on Thursday, April 24 when a motion to accept the contract was passed 7-0.
Zelinske said Monday, "We are very excited to announce the hiring of Belinda Selfors as our next superintendent of Hayfield Schools. Ms. Selfors comes to us from Sauk Centre Public Schools where she served as the secondary principal for 16 years. The finalists we had were all outstanding individuals and the decision was very difficult. We felt Ms. Selfors met and surpassed all of our expectations for our next superintendent. During the interview process, Ms. Selfors had the opportunity to meet many of our students, staff and community members. Ms. Selfors was well received by all the groups. We look forward to everyone having the opportunity to meet Ms. Selfors in the near future and welcome her to Hayfield. Ms. Selfors official start date is July 1.
We feel very fortunate to have had our current superintendent, Ron Evjen, be a part of our district for 22 years. We have accomplished many goals under his superb leadership. Mr Evjen is a very dedicated, loyal, and honorable man that always has the best interest of our students, staff, and school in mind first. He will be greatly missed. We wish Mr. Evjen well in his retirement but know that he won't be far since Viking pride runs deep. We encourage everyone to attend Mr. Evjen's Retirement Party on Sunday, June 8 from 2-4 pm in the Hayfield High School cafeteria. We will have a short program at 2:30 pm."
