Hayfield boys basketball continues to dominate

The Vikings stormed out and took a 10 to 0 lead over the Stewartville Tigers on December 17. The team dominated a strong team on their own court, making it a huge conference win against the Tigers who had a 6-3 record.

"We played a great defense again," coach Chris Pack said after the game.

The boys came out in the second quarter and scored 15 points before the Tigers answered their scoring with a free throw shot.

Lead scorers for the night were; Carter Pesch 13, Cole Kruger 12, Jeremy Stuart 12 Merrick Ducharme 8 and Drew Streightiff 5.

On December 19, the Vikings hosted Maple River at home in a non-conference match up.

The Vikings came out strong in the first quarter again scoring seven points before Maple River scored their first. "It was a very physical game," Pack said. "It was good for our guys to have to play that style." The Vikings passed the ball extremely well, totaling 21 assists for the game. "It was another win against a good team," he said.

Score leaders for the night were; Cole Kruger 16, Cam Rutledge 15, Jeremy Stuart 14, Drew Streightiff 11, and Merrick Ducharme 6.

Hayfield 66 Maple River 59

The win sent the boys into winter break with an 8-1 overall record and a 7-0 HVL Conference record.

The Vikings will play a four-team tournament in Redwood Falls on December 27 and 28.
