The Hayfield Vikings boys basketball team started off the week traveling to Kenyon-Wanamingo.
The team jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half of the game before giving up the first point. Cole Kruger missed a triple-double by one rebound; he got 15 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.
The final score was 69-26, another Hayfield win.
"They did another fantastic job on defense in this game," Coach Chris Pack said.
Top scorers for the night were Drew Streightiff 18, Cole Kruger 15, Carter Pesch 12, Merrick Ducharme 8 and Cam Rutledge 7.
On Saturday, the team traveled to Richfield to take on AAA team Academy of Holy Angels. Hayfield started out strong, jumping to an 8-0 lead early in the game and then having 14-3 lead. The Vikings went into halftime with a 26-17 lead.
The rest of the game was back and forth for the lead.
Holy Angels made their first 15 free throws in the second half before missing their last three.
"We had our chances but couldn't make a shot when we needed to in the second half," Coach Pack said. Holy Angels gave the Vikings their first lost of the season, 54-46.
Score leaders for the night were Cole Kruger 24, Jeremy Stuart 10, Carter Pesch 7 and Cam Rutledge 3.
