With four games left on the season schedule, the Byron boys soccer team is looking to finish the season with a string of wins going into section play.
Recently, the boys have found it tough to find the back of the net only recording one goal in the last two matches. The Bears played hard against the Bulldogs of Plainview-Elgin-Millville-Dover-Eyota earning a 1-1 tie.
The Bears scored first off the foot of Tyler Coble. The Bulldogs came back and scored later in the second half bringing the game even. After two overtime periods, the game ended in a tie.
The next match had the Bears going on the road again to LaCrescent for a conference match up.
The Bears again continued to lack solid scoring opportunities and settled for a 0-0 tie in overtime.
The defense played a solid game in front of goalkeeper Nate Levy who earned the shutout.
"Most teams would be happy with two ties against two solid opponents, but when you are sitting atop the section and conference, we should expect a decisive win every time we step on the field," said head coach Tony Benson.
The final four matches are against Winona, Rochester Lourdes, Kasson-Mantorville, and Austin. Section seeding is finalized the weekend of October 5th, with first round matches starting on October 8.
