The Triton girls brought their season record to 7-6 with an exciting 3-0 Homecoming win over La Crescent on Thursday, September 26, at home.
"We celebrated Homecoming for volleyball tonight," Coach Peggy Moran said. "We had a great pep band and great fan support again."
The girls started off slow in the first game and were down 9-17 at one time, but they did a great job clawing back to win a close game 27-25.
"It really shows the confidence these girls have to be able to come back after a big deficit and to hold on to win a tight game," Coach Moran said. "In game two things were clicking on all cylinders. The girls won 25-9 and just really took it to them. Game three was another close one and was an exciting game the whole way. La Crescent started to block us a little more and we had a few hitting errors, but again we made the plays when it counted and won 30-28 to get a three-game sweep!"
Karissa Wright had 7 digs and 2 aces; Kali Kispert, 8 kills, 5 digs, 2 aces; Katy Erdmann, 13 digs; Gretchen Keller, 4 kills; Sara Bucher, 13 digs, 5 digs, 3 blocks; Kate Blaisdell, 4 kills; Greta Rhodes, 4 kills, 37 assists, 5 digs, 5 aces; Piper Yankowiak, 2 kills, 4 digs; Emily Hodgman, 8 kills, 3 assists, 3 digs.
Tuesday the Cobras traveled to Janesville and beat JWP in four games, scoring 25-15, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18.
"We struggled with hitting as a team in game three, after winning the first two games," Coach Moran said. "We hit a negative percentage, which made the game a real fight. We came back in game four and hit much better, but missed a lot of serves. We were able to hang on and get the win."
