5/29/2018 3:03:00 PM Byron to partner with Lourdes for wrestling

At their regular meeting May 21, the members of the Byron school board unanimously approved "pursuing a cooperative agreement with Rochester Lourdes in wrestling." Board members had heard a detailed presentation by Coach Ryan Radke at a board work session earlier in May. Aaron Murray and Tom Cardinal were also at that meeting.
The program will be on a trial basis for four years. Lourdes has committed to paying $5,000 to $7,000 for coaching salaries and practices would be held in Byron. According to information provided to the board by Byron High School Activities Director/Assistant Principal Malia Schroeder, the cooperative agreement would "allow for more wrestlers to be available at weight classes as we experienced multiple forfeits this school year and will work to foster better relationships between the two student bodies."
Board member Matt Prigge asked if this would change Byron's class and Radke explained that it would not.
Board member Faith Hollasch thanked Radke for the effort that had gone into preparing the information for the school board. "Job well done," she said.
