With Byron leading just 27-26 at halftime, the Bears used a strong offensive second half to clinch a 69-50 home win over Kasson (2-8 overall) Jan. 5.

Kasson tied the contest at 27 apiece with 17:26 left, but Byron (6-3 overall) took it from there.

"It was a tale of two halves," Byron head coach Kyle Finney said. "We increased our pressure, and had five guys working hard at all times. In the second half, we were much more relaxed."

Michael Coble made back-to-back threes at one point to put the Bears up by 10, while later Bjorn Knutson made a rare four-point play by connecting on a layup, drawing a technical foul and then sinking the extra two shots.

"It was a good, team effort," Knutson said. "We've learned we have to bring it the entire game."

Knutson led Byron in scoring with 15, while Coble added 14 and Kaden Koski and Nick Brown tallied 11 points apiece.

Hunter Bzoskie led Kasson with 18 points.

"We controlled the first half, and they're good," said Komets head coach Terry Pederson of the Bears. "We tried our best and played hard."
