Last weekend two boys from the track and field program competed in the state meet. Nick Sigirst and Jonah Gehrt both made the trip along with three of their female counterparts (Annie Christofferson, Kelsey VonBerge, and Hannah Coleman). Nick competed in the pole vault, 110 hurdles, and 300 hurdles. Jonah Gerht competed in the open 800.
Nick Sigrist placed 4th in the Pole Vault, 4th in the 110 High Hurdles, and 3rd in the 300 hurdles. He achieved all state status and was a fierce competitor. Nick was an integral part of the boys program's success this season and will be sorely missed as he was leader both by example and by character. Currently, Nick is still trying to decided where he will be next year.
He is currently trying to decide between Luther College and University Wisconsin-Eau Clare.
The other competitor in the meet from the boys track and field program Jonah Gehrt competed strong in the open 800, but he fell a bit short and did not make it in the finals. Jonah is very excited to get back to the state meet next season and find a place on the podium. There is not doubt that Jonah will be making run for the state meet again as he has a extremely strong work ethic and is a tremendous leader.
Overall, it was an excellent end to a fantastic season. Both Sigrist and Gehrt represented the boys program at Hamline University with integrity and respect.
They are great ambassadors for the rest of the excellent young men who they competed with throughout the entire season.
