George John Delzer
The funeral service for George John Delzer will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 8th Avenue NW, Kasson, MN with Reverend Randy Fett officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center with military honors by the Dodge Center American Legion.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center, MN.
George John Delzer, 88, of rural Kasson, slipped peacefully into eternal life at his home on Thursday, January 9, 2014.
George was the middle son born to Ezra and Rosa (nee Rohwer) Delzer on October 2, 1925. He grew up in the Kasson area and graduated from Kasson High School in 1943. After serving a stint in the Army from 1945-1947, at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, he returned home and worked several jobs before he began farming with his father in late 1951.
On August 24, 1958, George wed Carol (nee) Marquardt at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. They continued to farm until George retired in 1994.
After retiring, George enjoyed his family, gardening, taking care of the yard, reading the daily paper, and doing crossword puzzles.
George is survived by his wife, Carol, two children, Cosette (Bud) Harris, Waukesha, WI; Paul (Jackie) Delzer, Mantorville, MN; five grandchildren; Emily, Larisa, Dakota, Ariana, and Hunter Delzer and one great-grandson, Ezrah Delzer; 2 brothers, Donald Delzer, Missoula, MT; David (Marlys) Delzer, Mantorville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marjauna Nicole, a sister-in-law, Marcella Delzer, and a nephew, Michael Delzer.
