Keith W. Smith 75, of Eagan, MN formerly of Hayfield, MN passed away on June 21, 2013 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Born in Watertown, SD on August 31, 1937, Keith graduated from Bancroft, SD High School in 1955 and served in the US Army from 1956 to 1960. Keith married Beverly Myers on September 8, 1959 and they were married 53 years.
After leaving the military, Keith managed elevators in the South Dakota towns of Yale, Hitchcock, Milbank, Minnesota towns of Ivanhoe, Waltham, Dodge Center and Storm Lake, Iowa. He also helped his son start a landscaping business in Aurora, Colorado. Later in life Keith drove over the road truck, buses for Mayo Clinic patients, delivered motor homes, garbage trucks, and other heavy equipment. He officially retired in 2007.
Keith is survived by his wife Beverly, three children: Kamala (Dave) Hanskala, Steve (Kelly) Smith and Alison (Jay) Johnson; six grandchildren: Kristie, Skylar, Tess, Anna, Mason and Miles; two great granddaughters: Laney and Abby; and two sisters, Kay (Thad) Rogers and Cheryl (Mohammad) Boutrid. He also has numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Etta Smith.
The family prefers memorials to the American Heart Association or Ronald McDonald House. The family of Keith wishes to thank medical staff at Mayo Clinic and Regions Hospital for the excellent care over the years.
