Rollo K. Armour

Funeral services for Rollo K. Armour will be held Wednesday June 26th at 2:30 PM at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, 2810 40th Ave SE, in Rochester. The Reverend Kevin Sorensen will officiate. Burial, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 92, will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Armour, 88, of Rochester, died Thursday June 20, 2013 at Seasons Hospice near Rochester. He had been a resident of Meadow Lakes Senior Living in Rochester.

Rollo Keith Armour was born to the late Myron L. and Orma (Heineck) Armour on April 8, 1925 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1943. After serving his country in the 7th U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943 - 1946 as a radio and radar operator on B-24s operating in the South Pacific, he entered the MacPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, and was graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree.

Rollo taught choral and instrumental music in Eyota, Hayfield, and Rochester. He directed choral groups and played in various dance bands followed by a stint as headmaster in a Christian school.

He married Marie Rose (Chapman) Armour in 1966, and she preceded him in death in 1997.

Rollo is survived by a brother, Allen Armour, of Mukwonago, Wisconsin; a sister, Evalyn Langworthy of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Virginia Armour of Waite Park, Minnesota, and Carol Armour of Oregon, Illinois. Also surviving are a stepson, Jack (Barb) Chapman; step-grandsons, Mike (Darlene), Marty, Dan (Sally), Tim (Connie) Chapman; step-great-grandsons, and nieces and nephews. Preceding Rollo in death were three brothers, William, Myron, and Rodney Armour; and a sister Jean Adele LaPorte.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
