Morton, James E. (Jim) 89, passed away on June 11, 2013 in Sun City, AZ. Born in Doge Center, MN on June 24, 1923. He resided in Sun City for the past 17 years.
Jim was a WWII Marine Veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in the South Pacific. He retired from Honeywell. Jim was regarded as a great father and friend.
Preceded in death by parents, Margaret and Edwin Morton and daughter Jacqueline Nelson. Survived by his devoted friend Beverly Bruce and daughters, Bonnie Roberts (Bill), Mary Scheffler (Dave), Lori Wengler (David), Rebecca Marx and sons, Steve Hofius (Patty), Tom Hofius (Amy); 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service was on Monday, June 24 at 5:00 PM with Memorial Gathering one hour prior to service, all at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1415 6th Avenue, Anoka MN 55303. 763-421-1196. Cremation burial will be June 29, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery with military honors by the Dodge Center American Legion. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center assisted with local arrangements.
