The funeral service for Curtis Robert Kabage will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church 104 ~ 1st St. SE in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.

Curtis Robert Kabage, 94, died on April 23, 2013, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.

Curtis was born on October 16, 1918, the son of Joseph and Emma (Spindler) Kabage in Dodge County, MN. Curtis was united in marriage to Kathleen Arvilla Estby on December 5, 1942, in Hayfield, MN. Curt started farming in 1942, and purchased their farm in Vernon township in 1948. Curt and Kathleen farmed there until retiring in 1978, and moving into Hayfield. At that time they also purchased a lake cabin near Park Rapids and have spent many wonderful years at both locations. He enjoyed fishing from the boat in the summer and in the ice house in the winter. During this same time he became interested in woodworking and he took pleasure in sharing his creations with others. Being an avid farmer all his life, it was a natural for Curt to continue by having a garden in town in which he spent many entertaining hours. Curt and Kathleen loved to travel in their motor home, taking many trips around the country and then further widened their horizons by taking cruises to other parts of the world. Any time you would see Curt, he was always busy with something.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kabage, Hayfield, MN; son, Daryle Kabage, Bloomington, MN; daughter, Linda (Wayne) Gaustad, Park Rapids, MN; five grandchildren; Mark Gaustad, Melissa (Jeremy) Peterson, Dan Gaustad, Renee (John) Marlenee, Michelle (Gene) Ronnebaum; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Everett Kabage, Spring Valley, MN; three sisters, LaVonne Leth, Phoenix, AZ; Beatrice Wolesky, Owatonna, MN; and Laura Veerkamp, St. Charles, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers.

Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes in Hayfield assisted with arrangements.

Blessed be his memory.
