Alice Lucile Crom, 103, died peacefully at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island on April 11, 2013.
Alice was born in Villard, Minnesota, on November 11, 1909 to Sandy & Lucy Simpson. She graduated from Sauk Centre, Minnesota. At The age of 18, she moved with her family to Byron, MN, where they ran the family farm.
She married Orrie E. Crom in Mason City, Iowa, on October 26, 1940. They farmed in Salem Corners. In 1953, they moved to Pine Island where Orrie passed away on January 30, 1963. Alice worked at Libby's in Rochester for 10 years before retiring.
She enjoyed farming with horses, working outside, gardening, garage sales and going to the county fairs.
Alice is survived by one son, Orrie Crom of Pine Island, MN; daughter Della (John) Newell of Pine Island, MN; granddaughters Malissa (Troy) Lindner of Portland, Oregon and Michelle Newell of Phoenix, AZ; grandson Jerry White of Florida and several other grandchildren; one very special great-granddaughter Sabina Lindner who she called "the little one", her special angel; and several other great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orrie Crom, daughter Jessie White; son-in-law Courtney White; sisters Lizzie Wikle and Jessie Day and one brother who died at age 3.
Funeral services will be held at The Dibble Funeral Chapel, 213 W. Main Street, Kasson, MN, on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Sharon Nelson of The United Methodist Church of Byron officiating. Visitation will be at the chapel one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at the Hamilton Cemetery in Rural Racine, Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to MS research.
