Karen Jean Dohrmann, 72, passed away on September 11, 2012 at Zumbrota Health Care after a lengthy battle with many health issues. Karen was born March 4, 1940, to Roger A. Gaedtke and Thelma O. (Moen) at County Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She lived in Stephens Point, WI. She moved to Red Wing, MN, as a young child; then to Goodhue, MN, at age 11 and graduated from high school there in 1958.
Karen married Caryl Dohrmann on August 24, 1958, and moved to his family farm in Kasson, MN. They moved into town after selling the farm in 1968 and settled in Kasson in July of 1972, where they lived for 30 years. Caryl and Karen moved to Mantorville in 2002, where Caryl and their son, Thomas, currently reside.
Karen did daycare from the home and then worked at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center for 25 years in housekeeping and laundry. Her hobbies were sewing, reading and traveling with Caryl. Her family was most important in her life.
She is survived by her husband, Caryl; three children, Michael Dohrmann (Kasson), Thomas Dohrmann (Mantorville), and JoAnn Hines (Kasson); five grandchildren, Ian, Allison and Sean Hines and Megan and Andrew Dohrmann; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Harvey) Dohrmann, Diane (Thomas) Gaedtke; brother-in-law, Richard (Ella) Finley and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Gaedtke and Thelma Ross; step-parents, Ann Gaedtke and Harley Ross and her brother, Thomas Gaedtke.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW, Kasson, MN, with Pastor Marie A. K. Anderson offciating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, September 17, from 4:00-7:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kasson. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the church in the fellowship hall.
