Ralph Madery (80) passed away peacefully at his home in Cheyenne, WY on June 6, 2014.
Ralph was born January 7, 1934 in Dodge Center to Erwin and Freda (Baldridge) Madery. He grew up with fond memories of his upbringing in Dodge Center and talked about throwing the ball over the old one room schoolhouse roof with his friends. Ralph graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1951. He joined the Air Force on January 22, 1952 as part of the Third Maintenance Squadron during the Korean Conflict until 1956. He was promoted to Flight Engineer on the B-26 bomber and he attained the rank of Airman First Class. He was very proud of his service to his country and maintained affiliation with veterans groups throughout his life.
After he left the service, Ralph attended Cal Poly College in Pomona, CA and studied Animal Husbandry. While in college he met Yvonne Nickels and they were married on September 3, 1960 and had two children. They were later divorced. After graduating from college Ralph worked for various corporations (Safeway in Oakland, CA and Challenge Dairies in Washington and Oregon) as a Quality Control Supervisor. He also worked in real estate and received his Brokers license in California in 1979. He most recently drove long haul for a company out of Colorado.
Ralph married June Henderson on November 5, 1987.
He loved playing checkers (especially give away), football and traveling.
Ralph is survived by his two children. A daughter, Denise Madery (David Blackwell) of Riverside, CA and a son, Darryl (Suezette) Madery of Boise, ID; two grandchildren Riann Sandra Madery (13) and Payton Charles Madery (10) of Boise, ID; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a brother Merlyn (Mary Jo) Madery of Owatonna; two sisters Arlene (Jerry) Louks of Owatonna and Arlys (Merwin) Lindahl of Dodge Center; many nieces and nephews; and special friend Patricia Hooley and her family of Fort Collins, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Freda Madery and his second wife, June.
A celebration of his life was held on June 14, 2014 at Praise Fellowship Church in Dodge Center with Pastor Roger Langworthy officiating. Burial of his ashes was in Riverside Cemetery, Dodge Center.
