Dodge Center City Council Golf course annexation okayed, forwarded for state approval

By Larry Dobson

The Dodge Center City Council passed the ordinance approving annexation of the Dodge Country Club Golf Course to the city at its regular meeting Monday evening. The next step is approval by the Minnesota Office of Boundary Adjustment. City Administrator Lee Mattson said Tuesday that he anticipates the annexation will be completed in time for the city to issue the club liquor license before it opens this Spring. Previously, the club has been licensed by the county.

In other business, the council approved:

• Gary Trelstad as acting mayor;

• Star Herald as official newspaper;

• Citizens State Bank of Hayfield, Wells Fargo Bank, Wells Fargo Brokerage Services LLC, Bank of Zumbrota, Salomon Smith Barney and LMC 4M/4M Plus Funds as official depositories;

• a contract with Weber & Leth PLC as city attorney;

• Josh Jorgenson replacing Gary Trelstad on the Dodge Center Park Board;

• a resolution increasing utility rates for sewer volume $0.15 per 1,000 gallons and water volume by $0.75 per 1,000 gallons.

The utility rate increases will go toward funding the Dodge Center Capital Improvement Plan to continue water main replacement as part of street reconstruction projects and for interior and exterior resurfacing of the old water tower;

• renewal of the Dodge Center Aviation and Wayne Trom hangar leases at the airport;

• a temporary liquor license for the Legion for Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014;

• reassignment of personnel at the fire department. Matt Maas replaces Jeremy Dostal as assistant chief; Jeremy Dostal replaces Kevin Dostal as training officer; Codie Howard replaces Matt Maas as lieutenant.

The council also discussed but took no action on the Main Street Project and the TAP grant for safe routes to school.

Mattson said the county assessor has scheduled Tuesday, April 29 at 6 p.m. for the annual Dodge Center Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting. This is the meeting when property owners can appeal valuation of their property.
