12/16/2013 11:00:00 AM Council approves pool committee
By David Richards
The Byron pool committee is now an official committee of the City of Byron.
Council unanimously approved the move at its Dec. 10 meeting at city hall.
Even though the group formed more than a year ago, city administrator Mary Blair-Hoeft said the committee can now receive more guidance from the council if they need it.
The committee had proposed an elaborate outdoor aquatic center, which included a zip line and water slides, but Blair-Hoeft said following several open house meetings, an indoor pool might be reconsidered as an option.
The Byron Pool/Aquatic Center Committee is charged with the task of making a final recommendation to the council regarding what is the best option for a pool/aquatic facility in the City of Byron.
The committee will consist of seven community members at large, one representative from the park board and one council liaison. The park board representative and council liaison shall be non voting members who are not counted for quorum purposes.
