9/17/2013 12:47:00 PM Mantorville sets preliminary levy
At their meeting Sept 9, 2013, the Mantorville City Council approved a preliminary 2014 property tax levy increase of three per cent, which equates to $440,086.
Between now and mid-December when the final levy figures are approved, council members will discuss the budget line by line and this amount may decrease.
Among the items discussed at this meeting were budgeting for needed repairs to the outside of the city hall and fire hall and, a $4,000 grant received by the city for radio equipment for the fire department. One of the conditions for the grant is that the city must match this amount.
Council members also discussed parking issues relating to Marigold Days and electrical problems at the park during the festival.
Council members approved the town's cell phone policy for employees and continuing to employ Ray Kuchinka to help the public works department until the end of September.
The council will meet again at 6:30 p.m. Sept 23 at city hall.
