2/20/2013 2:18:00 PM Mantorville resident asks for storm water fee forgiveness
The Mantorville City Council members decided they could not waive the $3/month storm water fee for one resident at their meeting Feb 11, 2013. Resident Dan Root lives on the edge of the city limits and does not use city water or sewer and there is no curb or gutter on his street, he said. There is a drainage ditch that runs down the street that carries away water, he said.
Council members and residents who attended the meeting discussed the city's animal ordinance and if changes should be made to it. The council decided to send a draft ordinance to the city attorney and then hold a public hearing, tentatively scheduled for March 11.
The Local Board of Appeal and Equalization (LBAE) meeting has been scheduled for Apr 29. The meeting is held so that city taxpayers may ask questions about their property taxes.
The local Economic Development Authority is seeking qualifying businesses that would like to use the available low interest loan funds.
The park board has been discussing buying security cameras for the park shelter.
The council approved changes to the Relief Association bylaws because of alterations to the state statutes regulating pensions.
The council will meet again at 6:30 p.m. Feb 25 at city hall.
