TRITON ISD NO. 2125 - SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

MONDAY, APRIL 10, 2017 - 6:00 P.M.

TRITON PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - DODGE CENTER, MN

-Meeting Proceedings-

Chair Jim Jensen called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Those members present: Lloyd Henslin, Jr., Tracy Petersohn, Melissa Kubat, Rebecca Knutson, Rodney Dostal, Jim Jensen and Dale Jensen; absent: none. Also present: Superintendent Brett Joyce, Principal Nancy Stucky, Principal Luke Lutterman, Student Council Representative Madison Boe, Deb Meeker, Patty Braeger and 9 visitors.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Kubat/Henslin motioned to approve the agenda with the addition to Item 5.5 Approve Extra-Curricular Contract for Mike Kelly as Trap Team Coach and Approve Contract for Anne Schreiber as High School Language Arts Teacher. Motion carried unanimously.

Henslin/Petersohn motioned to approve the consent agenda including the March 20, 2017 regular meeting minutes as presented; claims and bills; financial report; open enrollment/nonresident agreements for students #041017A and #041017B; maternity leave for Jessica Dailey effective June 22, 2017 until October 23, 2017, resignations/retirements for Barbara Schrandt as Teacher effective the end of the 2016-2017 school year and Nancy Stucky as Elementary Principal effective the end of the 2016-2017 school year, resignations for Faith Nomeland as Teacher effective the end of the 2016-2017 school year and Pierre Ellis as Girls Head Basketball coach effective April 1, 2017, extra-curricular contract for Mike Kelly as Trap Team Coach and contract for Anne Schreiber as High School Language Arts Teacher. Motion carried unanimously.

D. Jensen/Dostal motioned to approve contracting with Innovative Power Systems. Motion carried unanimously.

Elementary Teacher Jessica Meeker gave a presentation on district literacy and proficiency.

Student Council Representative Madison Boe requested an overnight trip for Student Council to attend the State Leadership Convention at John Marshall, Mayo and Century.

Kubat/Knutson motioned to approve Student Council Representatives to attend an overnight trip to Rochester April 22-24, 2017 for the State Leadership Convention. Motion carried unanimously.

Third quarter student enrollment figures were discussed.

Petersohn/D. Jensen motioned to approve the Resolution Relating to the Termination and Nonrenewal of the Classified Contract of Marisa Starkson, a Paraprofessional. Motion carried unanimously. (Attachment A)

Kubat/Dostal motioned to approve the Resolution Relating to the Termination and Nonrenewal of the Classified Contract of Kelly Roussell, a Paraprofessional. Motion carried unanimously. (Attachment B)

Discussion was held regarding budget goals.

Principal Stucky reported on the Science Fair, mindset, behavior management plan and homework, statewide testing April 20th and Professor Marvels Super Hero Magic Show and talking about character traits.

Principal Lutterman, the District Assessment Coordinator, gave an update on testing, the kindness tree, and the Price Is Right fundraiser April 22nd.

Superintendent Joyce gave an update on the ZED interviews and changing the May 22, 2017 School Board Work Session to the High School Media Center.

The Administrators and School Board expressed their appreciation and well wishes to the staff members who are retiring.

Student Council Representative Madison Boe reported on the pancake breakfast and stated they are working on Teacher Appreciation Week and the talent show.

Petersohn/D. Jensen motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:59 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
