TRITON ISD NO. 2125 - SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

MONDAY, MAY 20, 2013 - 6:00 P.M.

TRITON HIGH SCHOOL - DODGE CENTER, MN

-Meeting Proceedings-

Chair Streiff called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Those members present: Duane Bartel, Lloyd Henslin, Jr., Dale Jensen, Chad Johnson, Terry Selthun, Bryce Kleinwort and Jon Streiff; absent: none. Also present: Superintendent Robert Kelly, Principal Craig Schlichting, Principal Nancy Stucky, Principal Brett Joyce, Deb Meeker, Patty Braeger and 7 visitors.

Kleinwort/Bartel motioned to approve the revised agenda with the addition of Item 4.5 Resignation for Diana Connelly as Language Arts Teacher effective June 1, 2013 and contract for Patrick Floryance as Middle School Teacher; Item 5.1 Discuss/Approve contract for Peggy Moran as Girls Basketball Coach and Item 5.2 Discuss/Approve contract for Adam Girtman as Boys Basketball Coach. Those in favor of: Kleinwort, Johnson, Streiff, Bartel, Selthun and Henslin; Opposed: Jensen. Motion carried.

Bartel/Selthun to approve the consent agenda including the April 15, 2013 regular meeting minutes and the April 30, 2013 special meeting minutes; claims and bills; financial report; open enrollment/nonresident agreements for students #052013A, #052013B, #052013C, #052013D and #052013E; resignation/retirement of Lee Loppnow as Bus Driver effective May 30, 2013; contracts for Brian Felten as Secondary Teacher and Heather Randall as Speech Language Pathologist; resignation of Rebecca Martin as High School Counselor effective the end of the 2012-2013 school year; Summer Recreation Assistant contracts for Jocelyn Austin, Jacob Knutson, Trent Maloney, Haley Staffon, Samantha Brocker, Kylo Courteau, Taylor Timmerman, Ben Scherger, Sara Bucher and Hayley Yankowiak; resignation of Diana Connelly as Language Arts Teacher effective June 1, 2013 and contract for Patrick Floryance as Middle School Teacher . Motion carried unanimously.

Kleinwort/Johnson motioned to approve the contract for Peggy Moran as Girls Basketball Coach. Those in favor of: Streiff, Henslin, Bartel, Selthun, Kleinwort and Johnson; Opposed: Jensen. Motion carried.

Bartel/Kleinwort motioned to approve the contract for Adam Girtman as Boys Basketball Coach. Motion carried unanimously.

Jensen/Bartel motioned to approve the 2013-2014 Resolution for Membership in the MN State High School League. Those in favor of: Henslin, Selthun, Bartel, Jensen, Kleinwort, Johnson and Streiff; Opposed: none. Motion carried unanimously. (Attachment A)

Johnson/Jensen motioned to approve students to attend an overnight trip for the FFA Officer Retreat at William O'Brien State Park in Taylor Falls July 23-25, 2013. Motion carried unanimously.

Jensen/Selthun motioned to approve an overnight trip for Link Crew Leaders to attend Camp Victory in Zumbro Falls on August 17-18, 2013. Motion carried unanimously.

Bartel/Jensen to approve Triton Middle School Student Handbooks for 2013-2014. Motion carried unanimously.

Bartel/Selthun to approve Triton High School Student Handbooks for 2013-2014. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion was held regarding the preliminary budget for 2013-2014

Jensen/Selthun motioned to approve the lunch prices for the 2013-2014 school year. Motion carried unanimously.

Superintendent Robert Kelly reported on the following items:

• State Legislative update

• Graduation

• Construction update

Selthun/Jensen motioned to approve spending up to $100,000 from the general fund for remaining building projects. Motion carried unanimously.

• Negotiation dates

• Possible Study Session in July

• EBC meeting

• Grant money for SRO

• Staff Recognition and Appreciation breakfast

Johnson/Jensen motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:19 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
