Looking for a weekend packed with things to do?
You have it.
In Byron this coming weekend, Dec. 6-7, the chamber is hosting BrrrFest, Friends of Oxbow will be busy with Zoo Dazzle, while The Byron Women of Today is planning a holiday extravaganza vendor fair and a Santa's Secret Shop.
"It's a nice variety," said Mayor Ann Diercks, of the events planned.
Held at different locations throughout Byron, BrrrFest is a joint effort between the chamber and the area's businesses.
Events kick off Friday Dec. 6 with holiday cookies and hot apple cider at First Security Bank from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. From noon to 5 p.m., ornament crafts and drawings will be held at First Alliance Credit Union, while an open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Farmers Insurance and The Bears Den will host an ice bar from 5 to 9 p.m. (Saturday at the same time as well).
On Saturday, breakfast with Santa will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Byron Community Education Building and sponsored by Byron Community Education. Other highlights that day include a free cup of Chili at The Bears Den from noon to 4 p.m.; kids cookie decorating from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Otto's Bakery; free horse and wagon rides, with food sampling at Byron Market Place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. a meet and greet with Santa and the Byron Bear at City Hall from 4 to 5:30 p.m.; and the tree lighting at the Byron Roundabout Plaza featuring Byron mayor Ann Diercks and the Byron High School choir from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Kwik Trip is sponsoring free hot cocoa during the lighting, with Ever Grey Photography sponsoring holiday treats and coupons for a free mini photo session. Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo hosts its fourth annual Zoo Dazzle with lights and Santa Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m.
The event features a silent auction, free cider, cookies and milk.
Volunteers donate a combined 400 hours of their time to transform Byron's zoo into a winter wonderland of sparkling lights. Oxbow Park is located at 5731 County Rd 105 NW.
Holiday and Extravaganza Vendor Fair
The Byron Women of Today will host a Holiday Extravaganza Vendor Fair on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature 25 vendors, door prizes and lunch. There will also be a Santa's Secret Shop where kids can shop for their family members and friends by themselves. Elves will be there to assist the children, and parents can identify the child's gift needs and set price limits. Both events will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron. Proceeds go toward the Byron Women of Today Scholarship.
