Council gives chamber green light for festival tree
By David Richards
It's official, bring on Brrrr...Fest, tree and all.
At its Nov. 12 meeting, the Byron city council unanimously approved the chamber's request to use the city's land near the new roundabout as a location for a tree lighting next month.
The lighting will be part of Byron's first winter festival, Brrrr...Fest, a joint effort between the Byron Area Chamber of Commerce and local businesses that will take place Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7.
Chamber marketing committee members are working out a schedule of events.
Complete details will be published in the Byron Review in the next week or two.
In addition to the tree lighting approval, the council also approved the use of city hall for a meet and greet with Santa and the Byron Bear during the festival.
Others activities expected at Brrrr...Fest include cookie decorating, a chainsaw wood sculpturist and an ice bar.
