A horseshoe driveway and a charming wrap around porch with cozy wicker furniture welcomes guests of Jessie's guest house in Brownsdale. The inside welcomes guests with warm colors, stylish furnishings and a one-of-a-kind, beamed ceiling in the spacious kitchen. The home is truly, country chic.
The home, located at 27030 State Highway 56 right across from IBI Data in Brownsdale, has been transformed from the dilapidated house it was a few years ago.
Jessie's Guest House, was born from a simple drive around the Ibling family farm years ago.
Katherine Harte, owner of IBI Data and the Ibling farm, asked her mother, Josephine, "Josie" what she thought should be done with the family's homes that were sitting empty. "Should we tear them down or should we keep them," Katherine asked. Her mother responded simply, "keep them."
A few years ago Katherine took her mother's wishes to heart and started remodeling her grandmother Jessie's house, with the help of her husband Michael and her 85-year-old uncle Vern. Michael acted as the general contractor of the project and Vern was in charge of all of the woodwork in the house. He spent his time rebuilding the breakfast nook, which held a lot of memories for Katherine. He worked tirelessly on the custom woodwork throughout the home and on the back patio. Michael worked on the bigger projects of the home and made sure Katherine's vision, came off without a hitch. Throughout the renovation, Katherine kept to her idea of having the house designed with "a touch of country elegance." A rural setting with a sophisticated atmosphere, a place where friends and families could gather for celebrations and weekends away.
Jessie's House, named after Katherine's grandmother, officially opened in April. An open house was held recently.
The house boasts two full bedrooms with in-suite bathrooms, a full kitchen with two of every appliance, the original breakfast nook has been redone and a sun room and back patio have been added on to the home.
The home can sleep seven people and is currently the only place in Brownsdale that is for rent on a nightly or weekly basis. Guests at Jesse's House, have full use of the home, garden and patio area as well as the walking trails around the Ibling Farm, across the road. Electric motor cars are also available for rent to navigate the outdoor trails.
Now that Jessie's House is complete, Katherine, Michael and Vern are working on Josie's house, the home that Katherine's mother owned and formerly housed Josie's Daycare on the IBI Data site. That home will be opening sometime next year.
