For three years, Bark in the Park has been a major fundraiser for a dog park in Mantorville. The newly unified Kasson-Mantorville Dog Park group worked together for this year's event. According to Cresta Melcher, a member of the Dog Park board, they are progressing toward their goal of opening a dog park by the water tower in Mantorville.

"I'm feeling pretty comfortable about it," she said.

With stands for people to visit, including ones for ESRA, Bone Appetit Canine Bakery, Leashes and Leads, Wagazine, and one for kids to have their own balloon crowns made by clown Chuck James, there was much to look at. There was a silent auction with seventeen different prizes provided by groups such as KM Regional Veterinary Hospital, the Chocolate Shoppe, and Hair Salon 52.

Kasson officer Josh Hanson on police dogs showed what he and his dog Liberty could do and a show done by the Minnesota Disc Dogs Club was great to watch.

With plenty of fun and plenty of friends, both the two legged and the four legged kind, the event was very good for the community.
