While no one is for certain when the first FunFest was held, organizers do know the impact the event has had year after year.
"It's our largest fundraiser, " said Peggy Morris, president of Friends of Oxbow, the group that finds ways to help fund Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo in Byron.
This year's spring FunFest is planned May 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature everything from face painting to carnival games, cow milking, wagon rides and a chance to pet baby goats.
"It has progressively grown," Morris said of the extravaganza that can draw upwards of 5,000 people. "We just have no real way of counting because you can come from so many different ways."
Admission is free, but donations are welcome. In addition, there is a small cost, 25 cents, for the carnival games as well as separate costs for hair painting and face painting.
Food is also an additional cost and will be catered by the Canadian Honker, which will be serving up hot dogs, chips, drinks and Bunny Cake.
All funds raised will go toward future exhibits at the park.
