A Hayfield man remains in jail on charges of theft, criminal damage to property and 5th degree drug possession for allegedly stealing two security cameras from Freerksen Car Wash on the night of February 6.
According to the complaint on February 7, Deputy Shannon Boerner notified Detective Scott Rose that two Samsung weatherproof night vision security cameras had been stolen from the car wash. Upon review of the surveillance footage, Rose saw a white Chevrolet Lumina and a white male dumping garbage into the dumpster at the car wash. Footage then showed the suspect knocking down the cameras. Detective Rose was able to run the license plate of the car and find mail in the garbage.
The suspect was identified as Troy Rasmussen of Hayfield. A search warrant was executed at Rasmussen's resident where deputies found the two security cameras and a straw and pipe that both tested positive for meth.
The complaint states during questioning Rasmussen admitted to taking the cameras.
Rasmussen remains in custody in the Steele County Jail in lieu of bail.
