Fresh, fabulous, and locally-made: Mantorville Art Guild announces its Inaugural season of "Art Share"

"Buying Local" is a concept that has become more and more popular with consumers. For example, Community Supported Agriculture plans allow consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farms. Although fresh food-loving consumers don't always know what's going to be in each farm-fresh delivery, they know that the food will be fresh, fabulous, and locally grown.

With that same "Buy Local" spirit in mind, the Mantorville Art Guild announces the launch of its own Community Supported Art program to our area! Modeled on Community Supported Art in Minnesota (created by mnartists.org and Springboard for the Arts), the Mantorville Art Guild's "Art Share" program allows art-loving consumers to buy a share of fresh, fabulous, and locally-made art directly from Dodge County's only non-profit visual arts group! "Shares" in this program will be available for purchase beginning September 20 at the Mantorville Art Guild.

Our selected local artists have each created (and donated) 10 original or limited-edition items specifically for this program. Collectors who purchase a "share" will receive 20 different pieces of artwork in two Art Share Box distributions. The first "distribution" will occur in early November, and the second will arrive at the end of January. To celebrate each distribution, we will invite all of our shareholders to a reception at the Mantorville Art Guild's Gallery at 521 N. Main Street in Mantorville. There, shareholders can meet other Local Art Supporters as they pick up their own "share" of locally-created art! (Art Share Boxes can also be shipped to shareholders who cannot attend the receptions.)

Designed to promote the work of the Mantorville Art Guild and its member artists, our Art Share program also creates an engaged community of local arts patrons. Artists are encouraged to create new art work, and foster relationships with local arts patrons/collectors and to participate in this exciting new method of art support and distribution. Art Share patrons increase their collections with works by emerging and mid-career artists at a fantastic value! Additionally, they have the opportunity to develop relationships with local artists and financially support the local arts community, as they explore a variety of creative disciplines.

Member shares cost $375.00 for the season, but the combined value of the artworks in the two shares is over $700.00. Shares can be purchased starting September 21, 2012, but be warned: Shares will sell out fast. There is a limit of 10 shares total available for this inaugural Art Share season! Shares can be purchased by individuals, groups, organizations or businesses by contacting the Mantorville Art Guild at 507-635-5665.

The Mantorville Art Guild, a non-profit visual arts group, was founded in 2007 for the purpose of providing a venue for area artists to display and sell their artwork, to teach classes in the various visual art forms represented through their membership and to preserve traditional forms of artwork while exploring new areas of expression. The operations and purposes of the organization are exclusively artistic and educational, as those terms are defined in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. For more information, or to purchase your Art Share, please contact the Mantorville Art Guild at 507/635-5665, or by visiting the Gallery at 521 North Main Street in Mantorville.
