1/3/2018 1:08:00 PM Board takes early look at budgets, referendum

Triton School Board members sat down at a work session Dec. 20 to begin the process of preparing next year's budget and also considering a third levy referendum vote in November 2018.
Supt. Brett Joyce estimated the district will need to trim about $225,000 in 2018-2019 to maintain a balanced budget. That is on top of the $280,000 that was cut from the 2017-2018 budget.
He said that staff changes already anticipated could cut about $169,391. Those changes would involve restructuring due to the retirements of Sandy Huber and Bruce Huber. Sandy Huber teachers family and consumer science and Bruce Huber teaches industrial technology. By hiring one teacher to replace both of them the district could save an estimated $103,635, Joyce said.
