Led by Cris Gastner, vice president of Community and Economic Development Associates, the Dodge County Commissioners debated their ideas for the county's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats at their meeting Sept. 12.
The company - CEDA - was hired by the county last winter to conduct the interviews with residents and officials from each town, township and other organizations to update the county's comprehensive land management plan.
The county's rural character, the cooperative attitude of its residents and the proactive nature of its governing bodies are some of its leading strengths, the group decided.
Weaknesses discussed included the condition of its roads, the limited recreational opportunities and the lack of assisted living facilities.
CEDA staff members will continue the interviews and will soon begin to correlate the data.
Budget talks go on
In keeping with the solution of fixing weaknesses, the group tentatively decided to add $300,000 to the budget just for road repair next year
