As part of the Good Neighbor Days activities, Team R.E.D. hosts a Beer Mile each year. This year funds collected from registrations for the event raised $2,750 for the Lions Club accessible playground equipment fund for the new Byron Community Recreational Complex.
R.E.D. stands for Run. Eat. Drink. and their mission statement is Fitness and Fun!
City council member Dan Mesenberg explained at the council meeting July 25 that three records were set during the fifth annual run.
First was 139 - the largest number of people ever registered for the run.
Second was 5:30 minutes - Joachim Marjon set a new men's course record.
