On April 6, CBS-affiliated WCCO of Minneapolis recognized Byron's Prom Shop as the viewer's choice for Best Prom Dress Shop in Minnesota.
"We are thrilled to have been given this honor," said Pam Bessler, owner, of the shop located at 517 Frontage Road northwest.
A Byron staple since 1982 that draws dress seekers from all over Minnesota and bordering states, today's shop features more than a dozen dressing rooms, a runway and during peak season, roughly 1,000 dresses on site.
"It was really exciting," said manager Jacob Booms, of the honor." And we've been really busy lately."
The business is opened from sometime in December through April.
Sales associate Lexi Johnson said hot trends this season include sleeves, long styles and floral patterns.
"2Cute 71033," she said, rattling of the ticket number for one of the year's most popular dresses. "I know that one by heart."
The staff goes to great lengths to make sure the same dress doesn't end up at the same school. Data of the dress and school are entered into the shop's computer system.
"We try to do everything we can not to send it to the same school," Booms said.
