The Canisteo Future Farmers, 4H club will be hosting their first annual 5K Kaleidoscope run/walk on July 26 at the Dodge County Fair Grounds.
The Kaleidoscope run/walk is being used as a fundraiser for the 4H club, to raise funds to continue to do community service projects around the county. In the past the group has gathered food for various hunger prevention programs, painted bleachers and benches at an area football stadium and numerous other community outreach programs. In order to keep going with their community projects they are needing to raise money.
"We decided to do the run as a fun way to raise money for future projects," Zach Peterson explained.
Registration for the run will start at 8 a.m. with the run starting at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to wear white t-shirts. "We'll be throwing color at the runners, it's going to be a fun day," Peterson said. "We're hoping to get a good turnout."
The group has tried in the past to do a winter run, but found planning things outdoors during Minnesota winters isn't the easiest task. "We had to postpone it due to weather and then we'd have to move the run, it just didn't work out the best, so we're hoping the Kaleidoscope Run will be more successful," he said.
The cost to participate in the run is $5 for 10 and under and $10 for ages 11 and up.
"We're hoping to make this an annual fundraiser for our group."
