The week of July 21 - 24 promises to be a BIG and very active week at the Mantorville Art Guild as Kids' Summer Art Camp enters its fifth week. Here is what's scheduled:
Monday, July 21 and Wednesday 23, from 9-11:30 a.m., will be 'Losing Our Marbles' for ages 5 + up. The instructors are Loretta Verbout and Theresa Hoaglund. Everyone, plan to get dirty as you will be painting with real marbles and re-creating the ancient art of Florentine Marbling. You will then use your creations to make small books, mosaics or more.
In the afternoons from 1-3:30 p.m., will be 'Creative Art Camp' for ages 5 and up, with Theresa Hoaglund and Loretta Verbout. Please join in the fun for this camp, and create a variety of fun, creative and decorative items for display and/or wear.
Tuesday, July 22 and July 24 from 9-11:30 a.m., will be 'Nature Journaling' for ages 10 and up with Cheryl Frarck. A nature journal is a place to grow your thoughts, feelings, ideas, activities, observations, and relationships with the natural world. This course will offer activities to help you write, explore nature, relax and have fun. You will learn not to be critical of yourself when your drawings "don't look right." Just enjoy the process of learning and discovering. Class size: 6 maximum.
Afternoons from 1-3:30 p.m., will be 'Basic Watercolor' with Carla Webster, for youth ages 10 and up. Youth will learn the use of painting various colors in still life paintings using watercolors.
All camps are held at the Mantorville Art Guild Gallery, at 521 North Main Street in Mantorville. To register, stop by the gallery or call 507-635-5665.
This program is funded by a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council. All teachers are members of the Mantorville Art Guild.
