Lance Parker of Troop 42 in Byron received his Eagle rank on June 1. He was presented with his neckerchief and slide by his brother Matt Sauer, who received his Eagle award from Troop 42 eight years ago. Lance's project was turning the land under 11 pine trees near Christ the King Catholic Church into a hosta garden with edging, rock and mulch.
Lance completed a total of 37 merit badges. He held offices for ASPL, PL, Web master and Librarian. He mentioned in his speech that his favorite merit badge was biking because he was able to complete the 50 mile ride with his family.
Lance is now one of 63 total boys who have earned the rank of Eagle through Byron's Troop 42.
The Byron Review published an article eight years ago when Lance's brother Matt received his Eagle, at that time Lance was a Cub Scout and presented Matt with his neckerchief and slide.
