6/7/2014 3:18:00 PM Rig Up A Rain Barrel "Water Ways" Speaker Series
Did you know 1" of rain on a 1000-square-foot roof will generate over 623 gallons of water? Installing a rain barrel (or two!) can capture that resource and bring many benefits, including: lowering water bills, reducing water pollution, creating healthy soils, and making happy plants. Join us on Thursday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cascade Meadow Wetland and Environmental Science Center, 2900--19th Street NW, Rochester, to learn why and how you should rig up a rain barrel at your home. This program is presented by Megan Duffey Moeller, the Storm Water Educator for the City of Rochester.
This talk is part of the Zumbro Watershed Partnership's "Water Ways" Speaker Series that takes place the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Cascade Meadow Wetland and Environmental Science Center in Rochester. An easy formula for water volume potential is: 1inch of rain falling on 1sq.ft. of roof will generate about 1/2 gallon of water. Now go calculate the sq. feet of your roof!
